
As of 1 January 2014, the KNDV is designated by the Dutch Tax Authorities as a Public Benefit Organisation (ANBI). Benefactors of ANBIs can benefit from certain tax advantages on inheritance, gifts and donations. For example, donations to the KNDV are deductible for income tax or corporate tax.
Publication Requirement
With effect from 1 January 2014, ANBIs are subject to a publication requirement. The relevant details of the KNDV are:

Royal Dutch Zoological Society (Koninklijke Nederlandse Dierkundige Vereniging – KNDV), formerly Dutch Zoological Society (NDV) with royal recognition.

The Legal Entities and Partnerships Information Number (RSIN) is used to exchange data with other organisations, for example between different basic registries such as the Land Registry and the municipal administration.

Objectives and Means
Article 3 of the statutes (adopted on 22 December 1989) states the “Objectives and Means” of the association:
1: The association aims to promote the practice of zoology in the broadest sense.
2: It endeavours to achieve this aim:
- by holding scientific meetings;
- by organising biological courses;
- by publishing journals;
- by any other lawful means which, in the opinion of its board, may contribute to achieving its objective.

Remuneration Policy
The board members perform their duties unpaid and only receive reimbursement for expenses incurred in the performance of their duties, on a declaration basis.
Report on Activities Performed
Each year, at the general assembly, the secretary gives a brief explanation of the secretarial annual report highlighting the main association activities.
Financial Statements
The treasurer prepares an annual financial report. This is audited each year by an independent audit committee appointed by the Board.
